Period poverty is real, and Community Action Center (CAC) is stepping up with a bold new initiative to tackle it head-on.
On Thursday, May 8, CAC is officially launching “Go With The Flow. Period.”, a dynamic menstrual equity initiative aimed at ensuring everyone in our community has access to period products—no shame, no stigma, just support.
In partnership with the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce, CAC will debut this movement during the Chamber’s semi-annual Ladies Night Out, a fun and festive evening in downtown Faribault filled with shopping, food, giveaways, and comradery.
The CAC events takes place 3–9 p.m. May 8 at The Upper East Side, 217 Central Ave. in Faribault. Activities include a fun and educational gallery display of period advertisements through the ages, games, and prize opportunities.
“Go With The Flow. Period.” is a bold movement to ensure that everyone has access to essential menstrual products. By integrating this initiative into the Ladies Night Out event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about menstrual equity, participate in engaging activities, and contribute to a meaningful cause.
“Menstrual products are basic necessities, but shockingly, they’re not covered by SNAP benefits,” said CAC Senior Director Anika Rychner. “One in four women struggle to afford them, and that’s simply unacceptable. ‘Go With The Flow. Period.’ is our response — a community-powered movement that meets this need with dignity, humor, and heart.”
This isn’t your average fundraiser. Attendees will experience a cheeky, educational pop-up exhibit spotlighting vintage period ads, interactive games, laugh-out-loud displays, and selfie-ready period props. It’s a celebration of resilience, camaraderie, and advocacy — with a little attitude and a lot of flair.
The event invites the community to take action for menstrual equity by supporting CAC’s mission: making period products available across its food shelves in Rice County. Monetary donations are encouraged.
“We’re flipping the script on how we talk about periods,” said Rychner. “This is about visibility, access, and justice—with a splash of sass. And we’re thrilled to partner with our Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce to help support local businesses, all at the same time.”
