Community Action Center’s 3rd Runway Revival to return Aug. 21

Community Action Center (CAC) is thrilled to announce the third annual Runway Revival, taking place 6-9 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Weitz Center for Creativity on the Carleton College campus.

This unique “Project Runway-style” event celebrates local creativity, up-cycled wearable art and environmental sustainability — all crafted by local artists and designers committed to reducing waste through fashion.

“I love Runway Revival because it brings together things I care about: community, creativity and sustainability,” said Natalie Draper, a planning committee member and Runway Revival artist. “Supporting CAC through this event means supporting neighbors, dignity and a healthier future for us all.”

The event will be bilingual in Spanish and English. In addition to the runway show, there will be a silence auction with items and experiences, free refreshments and a cash bar.

The fundraising effort supports ongoing operations at the CAC, providing basic needs to families in Rice County facing food insecurity, housing challenges and more thought food shelves, emergency shelter, eviction prevention, case management, youth programming, recovery support and more.

In an effort to address income inequality and increase inclusivity, the CAC has a limited number of tickets reserved for those who use services at the CAC and introduced a “buy one, give one” feature during checkout, allowing tickets to be gifted to a neighbor in need.

Proceeds from the event support the vital programs CAC provides to thousands of individuals in the Rice County area.

“Runway Revival reflects CAC’s deep commitment to environmental sustainability and social justice, especially as we center the voices and needs of the people we serve,” said CAC Food Access Manager and Runway Revival artist and committee member Cassie Meza. “Many of our neighbors are disproportionately impacted by environmental harm and economic inequity. This event allows us to creatively address both, while bringing the community together in a spirit of solidarity.”
