The Community Action Center of Northfield is currently seeking monetary donations to support its Operation Backpack program.
Operation Backpack, co-sponsored by the United Methodist Campaign for Children Committee and the CAC, provides school supplies to approximately 600 area students. Held the week before school starts, eligible families with children ages 4 to 18 years old receive backpacks full of the supplies appropriate for the grade they are entering. In an effort to make sure the needs are met, the CAC welcomes and appreciates monetary donations rather than school supplies. This type of donation allows program coordinators to buy supplies in bulk, making each dollar stretch as far as possible, and ensuring that specific supplies for each grade level are available.Donate Now
Partnering For The Future
Thanks to the support of other local churches, businesses, organizations, donors and volunteers, the CAC has been able to offer this program at no cost to Northfield residents. Jim Blaha, CAC executive director, says, “Operation Backpack makes it possible for all students to come to school prepared and start off the year on equal footing. This program is doing its part to help guide our next generation on the path to success, and the CAC is proud to partner with the United Methodist Campaign for Children Committee on this initiative.”
Monetary donations for the program can be made payable to Operation Backpack and directed to the Community Action Center at 1651 Jefferson Parkway, Suite HS-200, Northfield, MN 55057.
