What you know about hunger and homelessness might not be true

November 14, 2016

The Community Action Center is recognizing Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week this year by distributing fliers throughout town and setting up interactive and informative displays that will be placed in 4 locations in Northfield: St. Olaf Campus, Carleton Campus, City Hall, and Northfield Public Library.

The displays are made up of large cardboard boxes with information around the outside about hunger and homelessness. Much of the information will be debunking common myths about hunger and homelessness, which inspired the use of a cardboard box as the focal point of the display to address the common misconception that all homeless people sleep in cardboard boxes. These myths and facts will also be presented on fliers that will be posted around Northfield in local businesses.

During the week from Monday, November 14 to Sunday, November 20, please look for our displays to inform yourself and others about hunger and homelessness in the United States, Minnesota, and Rice County. If you have any questions about the displays or the information on them, please contact Hillary Htoon (htoon.hillary@communityactioncenter.org) or Katie Studer (studer.katie@communityactioncenter.org).

Sincerely,

Hillary Htoon and Katie Studer
