Mary hadn’t been able to take the CAC’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class in the past due to work conflicts, but when she found herself unemployed a couple of months ago, she decided to take advantage of the opportunity. To boost her confidence and complement her new skill set, the CAC staff suggested she enroll in the new Northfield WORKS program.
Mary says, “I thought, ‘Why not?’ And the program was a great refresher with lots of information and support to help me get my new job. In addition to the classroom time that concentrated on topics like interviewing and résumé writing, the program provides a mentor, makes counseling and budget help available, and offers continuing education classes and lectures.”
Since graduating from Northfield WORKS, Mary has secured a full-time job as a CNA and will begin additional training to become a restorative aide and a trained medication aide in the coming months.
