Sandra Carson, a Northfield girl scout completing her silver award, brought 20 camper kits to be given to kids going to camp for the first time this summer. To partially fund her project, Sandy applied for and received a mini-grant from Northfield Healthy Community Initiative. Each camper kit contains a sleeping bag, beach towel, sunscreen, insect repellant, toothbrush, flashlight and batteries, water bottle, and rain poncho. Sandy assembled these items in a re-usable tote bag for each camper.
For the past decade, the Pohlad Family Foundation has provided funds allowing the CAC to send kids 7-15 to residential, accredited camps. Former campers tell us that the camp experience is not only fun, but opens their eyes to a new world!
We are grateful to Sandy and to the Pohlad Foundation for giving our campers this wonderful gift!
