Feeding the Hungry

Hunger in a community affects everyone. When neighbors work together to eliminate hunger, the nourishment provided goes far beyond food. Together, we can and do make a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors who do not have enough to eat in our community.

Hunger knows no season. The Community Action Center’s Food Shelf accepts donations of food and money year round. There are three ways to help our neighbors who are hungry:

1. Make a cash donation.

Cash donations are used to purchase food at $.22 per pound. If you would like to see your donation directly impact the Community Action Center’s Food Shelf, please make your check payable to: Community Action Center Food Shelf.

2. Donate food.

The most-needed items at the Food Shelf include:

Canned fruit and vegetables
Peanut butter
Canned meat
Soup, rice or pasta
Spaghetti sauce
Dry or canned beans
Granola, fruit or snack bars
Baby food and formula
Diapers
Paper products

3. Donate time.

Volunteers are central to the success of the Food Shelf and the Community Action Center’s Thursday’s Table program. For more information, contact [first name, last name] at 507.664.xxxx or e-mail firstname.lastname@communityactioncenter.org.
