The Northfield Youth Sports Collaborative, run by the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative, works in partnership with other community organizations like the CAC to ensure that all Northfield children have the opportunity to participate in athletic activities, regardless of their financial situation. Dave Phillips doesn’t claim to be a fisherman, but he’s at the center of teaching a lot of Cincinnatians to fish. For the past 17 years, Dave and his wife Liane have developed one of the nation’s most successful poverty-to-self-reliance programs, Cincinnati Works (CW), which serves as the model for the CAC’s newest program, Northfield WORKS. more »
The CAC will have three trained and certified specialists, called navigators (one of whom speaks Spanish), to assist anyone in the Northfield community with securing health care through MNsure, the Minnesota health care marketplace. more »

Today, Thursday, November 14, is the fifth annual Give to the Max Day – a day when Minnesotans gather to financially support the important work of the nonprofit community. Last year, the Community Action Center received over $10,000 in donations on Give to the Max Day. Gifts can be made online by visiting the CAC’s GiveMN page. The young professionals at the TCF National Bank branch at the Northfield Cub Store recommended the Community Action Center to the TCF Foundation for a funding contribution because of the work CAC does supporting families in the Northfield community.
