Northfield Area United Way to host family friendly Super Hero Kickoff

September 16, 2015

Free Family Super Hero Kickoff Saturday, Sept. 19

The Northfield Area United Way will host a family friendly Super Hero Kickoff for its fall fundraising campaign at the Northfield Area Family YMCA, Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. The public is invited to meet powerful United Way partner agencies and learn how these local heroes benefit one in three Northfield area residents. Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite super heroes for the chance to win a prize for Best Dressed Super Hero.

The public is invited to try the YMCA all day. The morning kickoff includes:

  •  Live music by Dime Store Watch, a local blend of Americana, alternative country, blues and rock.
  • Children can participate in interactive games
  • Super heroes and common folk are invited to dress up and take their own photos in the photo booth sponsored by Brand Yourself Consulting.

The event is free, and kicks off the fall fundraising campaign, through which the Northfield Area United Way aims to support more than 20 agencies in the Northfield area.  All donations stay local to improve the lives of those who live and work in the Northfield area. That area includes Dennison, Dundas, Kilkenny, Lonsdale, Montbomery, Northfield and Webster.

Guests are requested to bring a nonperishable food item for the food shelf at the Community Action Center – a Northfield Area United Way partner agency.
