Last Chance to sign up for Bridges Out of Poverty Workshop: May 13

The Community Action Center of Northfield invites the public to Bridges Out of Poverty, an inspiring full-day workshop taking place on Wednesday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. Olaf College. This educational event, featuring presenter Jodi Pfarr, is designed to transform the way people think about poverty and the role they can have in ending it. The cost is $40 for the workshop. Results for Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign 2015

The goal this year was to raise 152,000 in combined dollars and pounds.  We are pleased that we surpassed that goal!  With the support of donors and volunteers, the CAC Food Shelf continues to meet the needs of our community.

With your help, we are able to provide over 1,200 people with nearly 50,000 pounds of food each month.

The CAC is pleased to announce that this year your hard work brought in 160,347 in combined dollars and pounds!

Congratulations to every hand that played a part in the success of this year’s Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign.

Social Worker

April 16, 2015

We are hiring for a part-time, temporary social worker.  The social worker will work from now until October 1 to assist with our homeless programs.  Responsibilities will include enrolling clients in our emergency shelter program, assisting participants to develop plans to achieve stable housing, and referring clients to outside resources, as appropriate.  This is a half time position for approximately 22 weeks.  For more information, contact us at 507-664-3550.

Northfield Fire & Rescue Team Annual Food Drive

Be on the look out for the Northfield Fire & Rescue truck next weekend March 21st.  They will be collecting non-perishable food items for their Annual Food Drive to support the CAC Food Shelf during the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign.

Summer Camp Scholarships

Would your child like to go to camp this summer?  It may be cold and icy outdoors, but camp season is around the corner.  The CAC has funding available to send kids to overnight camps or summer activities.  Your child could have the opportunity learn outdoor survival skills, boat, swim, ride a horse, learn a language, play sports, or just make new friends.  Popular summer camps and activities fill early, so please contact us at 664-3550 to learn more and apply.
